Grand River Transit's New Bus Event - Jan. 26, 2024

Recently Grand River Transit unveiled the latest addition to its fleet: an all-electric bus! The special event was held in the Northfield Drive Maintenance Facility in Waterloo, Ontario.

The new bus was covered in black sheets before it was officially unveiled before a large audience.

GRT #22301 was built by Nova Bus in Quebec, Canada. The GRT's big bunny mascot was in attendance as well.

Local MPP Jess Dixon was at the event as well. She's a follower of Transit Timewarp on Instagram and even purchased a copy of my book "Grand River & Lake Erie Electric Railways".

A public tour was given as a part of the special event. We got an interesting look at behind-the-scenes of GRT's newest garage.

You can read more about the GRT's new electric buses on their website: https://www.grt.ca/en/about-grt/electric-buses.aspx
